Lighting of the Lawn

The University of Virginia

UVa's Lighting of the Lawn is an annual festival where students come together to partake in fellowship and good music. The climax is the Lighting of the Lawn itself, a grand illumination of the Academical Village with miles of white rope light. In 2012, a group of ambitious students surprised the campus by harnessing those lights to create the first LOTL Light show. In 2013 UVa Drama was brought on board to add some color using state of the art lighting technology and expertise. The Light Show has become a favorite UVa holiday tradition and a fixture on the school's calendar.
